Clemson Elementary School
CLEMSON, SC
“The third grade students in this video were inspired by the book Hoop Genius by John Coy. We were reading it as a book study when we heard about the competition. The students unanimously wanted to enter and worked together to write the skit. Their ideas were wonderful and showed a lot of creative and inspired thinking! When they found out that everything had to fit into one minute, they dug even deeper to pull out the most important parts that would show what they had loved about the invention of basketball. They were obviously very intrigued by the rowdy class that had caused two teachers to quit and Mr. Naismith's determination to find something they could enjoy without all the injuries! Win or not, I am very honored to get to share what the students created. As a teacher, it made my heart happy to watch them learn and apply their learning in such a unique way. I know this will be a memory that lasts a lifetime!”
- Danica Boster, Teacher
Lehigh Elementary School
WALNUTPORT, PA
“During March Madness my 5th graders created basketball hoops using resources like straws, pipe cleaners, tape and string. We then read basketball reading passages and answered questions. If they got the question correct they took a shot at their hoop with a ping pong ball. We slam dunked it with our skills!”
- Kelly Allabach, Teacher
Chancey Elementary
LOUISVILLE, KY
“This group is my gifted and talented “creativity” group. The students wanted to showcase a way to compare basketball to school. They like the phrase “Get Your Head in the Game” because it obviously can be used in basketball, but they are also preparing for State Testing and want to use this phrase to pump up the student population to take the test seriously and to always do their best. They will be creating posters to hang around the school using this phrase to prepare for testing.
Our students loved being creative with a basketball to make this video! They would be totally thrilled to have the Globetrotters come to their school!”

“My son Isaac loves The Harlem Globetrotters! We went to their last game in Salt Lake City and there's barely a day that goes by where they don't come up. He created this picture of Globie and actually had me send it to the Globetrotter headquarters. I was a little sad about having to send it away since I loved it, but it is just one of the ways my son looks to spread his love of basketball and the Globetrotters.”
